A string of activities has been organised across the country in celebration of the 70 th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2).
A placard exhibition is underway in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai , introducing 57 paintings by 55 professional and amateur artists nationwide.
The works affirm the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President Ho Chi Minh to the cause of national liberation, construction and defence as well as the deep gratitude to generations who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence and path to the socialism.
The six-day event will run until September 3.
On August 29, hundreds of children in the northern port city of Hai Phong took part in a painting contest as part of the “Independence Festival” programme.
Earlier, 1,300 young people sang the national anthem at the municipal theatre’s square on August 28 night.
There were also art performances honouring the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, the land and people of Vietnam , gift presentation, blood donation and free health check-ups and medicine provisions taking place in many parts of the city.
An art performance was also held in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong in tribute to those who devoted their lives to the country’s revolutionary cause.-VNA
