Hanoi (VNA) – The sixth session of the 14th NationalAssembly will open on October 22 and last through November 20, according to adraft schedule presented at the meeting of the NA Standing Committee onSeptember 11.
General Secretary and Chairman of the NA Office Nguyen Hanh Phuc said severaldiscussions during the session will be broadcast live, including the plenary debatesof reports on annual and mid-term socio-economic development and State budget,judicial work and question-and-answer sessions.
At the meeting, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said the draft law onspecial administrative-economic units has been transferred to the Governmentfor further study and collection of feedback, hence it will not be submitted to the sixth NA session.
Regarding personnel work, the Chairwoman said the proposal on dismissingthe Minister of Information and Communication will be submitted to the NA forapproval in the afternoon of October 22, and the proposal on the appointment ofthe new minister will be submitted on the next day.
Time should be arranged after the NA’s voting of appointment for the newminister to make his work commitment before the NA, Chairwoman Ngan said.
Vice Chairman of the NA Phung Quoc Hien suggested changing the openingtime of the NA’s daily meetings to 9 a.m. instead of 8 a.m. and the closingtime to 16 p.m. instead of 17 p.m. to avoid rush hours in Hanoi.
Also on September 11, the NA Standing Committee passed a resolution with100 percent of approval on the establishment of Ha Tien city in the southernprovince of Kien Giang, and of My Duc ward in Ha Tien town.
The National Assembly Standing Committee began its 27th session onSeptember 10. The session will last until September 20, debating several draftlaws and reports, and making preparations for the NA’s 6th session.-VNA
