Hanoi (VNA) – The National Assembly (NA) of Vietnamreceived office equipment, worth 2 million Chinese yuan (nearly 290,200 USD), asa gift from the Chinese Government at a ceremony in Hanoi on March 31.
Chairman of the NA Office Nguyen Hanh Phucreceived the gift on behalf of the Vietnamese parliament.
He noted the gift was the idea of Chairman ofthe National People’s Congress of China Standing Committee Zhang Dejiang duringhis official visit to Vietnam in November 2016.
“This is a meaningful present and anencouragement for the Vietnamese NA,” Phuc said.
Since the countries set up diplomatic ties in1956, exchanges have been promoted in all aspects. Notably, the two legislativebodies signed a cooperation agreement in December 2015, creating a legalfoundation and heralding a new stage of development in parliamentarycooperation.
Meanwhile, Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam HongXiaoyong highlighted growing Chinese-Vietnamese ties, adding that both sidesneed to work together to bring their Party-to-Party and State-to-Staterelations to a new height.-VNA
