She informed the host of the outcomesof her working sessions with Second Secretary of the CPC and First VicePresident of the Council of State and the Council of Ministers of Cuba JoseRamon Machado Ventura, Politburo member and President of the National Assemblyof People’s Power Esteban Lazo and several local leaders, as well as the latestsocio-political and economic situation in Vietnam.
Raul Castro, who is also President ofthe Council of State and the Council of Ministers, expressed wish to strengthenties between the two legislatures to improve their working efficiency, addingthat Vietnam’s political, economic and Party building experiences provide invaluablelessons for Cuba.
Amid the global complicateddevelopments, he stressed the need to strengthen Party building and ideologicalconsensus between the Party and NA to launch new guidelines in the principle offirmly and consistently safeguarding independence and self-reliance.
He noted that he has closely trackedVietnam’s situation, especially the 12th National Party Congress,and attaches importance to the fight against corruption, in which leaders’exemplary role is a crucial factor.
The host also lauded Vietnam’sexperience in renovation, diversification and multilateralisation of ties forthe benefit of the people.
Earlier, Phong visited Matanzasprovince – one of the Cuban leading economic localities, and held a workingsession with President of the People’s Power Provincial Assembly Tania Leon.
Leon presented an overview of majorfeatures of ties between provincial authorities, Party organisations, all-leveltrade unions with foreign enterprises; local development strategies for thetourism and oil and gas sectors; the working mechanism of cooperatives; and thenew economic form in the process of updating socio-economic models in Cuba.
Phong wished for deeper discussionson Matanzas development strategy with Vietnamese localities, especially inensuring the ecological environment in economic development.
During a working session with theVietnamese embassy in Cuba, Phong briefed the outcomes of her activities in thehost country and reminded embassy staff to stand united and maintain theexemplarity of Vietnam-Cuba ties.
The same day, Phong left Havana for thehome country, concluding her official visit to Cuba.-VNA
