Hanoi (VNA) - The 47th meetingof the National Assembly (NA) Standing Committee opened in Hanoi on August 10.
Opening the meeting, NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngansaid that, amid the new outbreak of COVID-19 in Vietnam, agencies andorganisations must strive to adapt to the situation and complete all necessary tasksfor the remainder of the year.
NA agencies should continue working closely togetherwith relevant agencies and organisations to flexibly arrange work plans toensure matters are submitted to the NA and NA Standing Committee forconsideration, she said.
The meeting is to last for three days and focus ondebating a draft revised Law on Residence; a draft law on amendments andsupplementations to a number of articles in the Law on the Handling ofAdministrative Violations; a draft revised Vietnam Border Guard Law; a draft revisedLaw on Environmental Protection; a draft law on amendments and supplementationsto a number of articles in the Law on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control; and a draftrevised ordinance on preferential treatment for revolutionary contributors.
Members of the committee will give opinions on theissuance of a decree on the management and use of defence land for militaryproduction and economic development; a strategy for the development of StateAudit to 2030; and a report on three years of implementing Resolution No 42/2017/QH14on the pilot handling of bad debts of credit institutions.
Ngan said that since the COVID-19 pandemic broke outin the country, the Government has focused on controlling it and the NAStanding Committee has therefore decided to give more time to ministers toperform their regular and unscheduled tasks and will not question them.
Following the opening ceremony, members of the NAStanding Committee discussed the draft revised Law on Residence.
They also debated a number of issues relating to thedraft Law on amendments and supplementations to a number of articles in the Lawon the Handling of Administrative Violations./.
