NA Chairwoman meets leaders of Vietnamese associations in Europe

National Assembly (NA) Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan lauded the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Europe for its activities towards the homeland during a meeting with its Executive Board in France.

Paris (VNA) – National Assembly (NA) ChairwomanNguyen Thi Kim Ngan lauded the Union of Vietnamese Associations in Europe forits activities towards the homeland during a meeting with its Executive Board inFrance on March 31 (local time).

She said her France visit aims to bolster the Vietnam –France strategic partnership established in 2013.

Informing the board of the domestic situation, the toplegislator said Vietnam has made solid progress in socio-economic developmentin the recent three years. Economic growth hit 7.08 percent in 2018 whilesocial welfare was ensured and local lives improved. Thanks to better businessenvironment, a number of leading investors have started business operations in Vietnamand more and more private enterprises been established.

The Party Central Committee issued an exclusive resolutionon the development of private sector, the leader stressed.

External relations and global integration continue to bestepped up in an active, proactive and effective manner, she said, adding thatVietnam signed and implemented 12 free trade agreements, and is in theprocessing of negotiating four bilateral and multilateral others, including theComprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP)approved by the NA in late 2018 and the Vietnam – European Union Free TradeAgreement.

Vietnam successfully hosted a number of major regional andglobal-scale events such as the 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU)Assembly, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ Week 2017 andthe 26th AnnualMeeting of the Asia-PacificParliamentary Forum (APPF-26). Recently, Vietnam was chosen as a venue forthe second USA – DPRK Summit in Hanoi from February 27-28, which has improvedthe country’s stature in the region and the world.

The NAChairwoman affirmed that the Party and State highly value the Vietnamesecommunity abroad, including those in Europe, for their mutual support in life.

Hailing theimportant role of the board members, she described them as a key mainstay forVietnamese nationals in Europe to integrate into the host nations.

The leaderalso listened to their aspirations and discussed in detail suggestions.-VNA
