Hanoi (VNA) - The National Assembly (NA) began the first workingday of the second phase of the 10th session on November 2, focusingdiscussions on socio-economic development issues.
Before the session, lawmakers observed a minuteof silence in memory of the officers, soldiers, and people who died during the recentfloods in the central region.
NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan said thathundreds of people have been killed by floods and landslides or are listed as missing,with many bodies yet to be found.
It is a terrible loss for the bereaved familiesand the country as a whole, she said.
In the second phase of the 10th session, Ngan said, the legislature will approve resolutions on asocio-economic development plan, State budget estimates, and a central budgetallocation plan for 2021.
The legislative body is also expected to makeseveral decisions on personnel matters and conduct Q&A sessions on theimplementation of its resolutions on specialised supervision and other sessionsduring the 14th working tenure, and several resolutions from the 13th tenure.
Lawmakers will exchange opinions on draftdocuments to be submitted to the 13th National Party Congress and decideon a date for national elections of deputies to the 15th NationalAssembly and all-level People’s Councils in the 2021-2026 terms.
On the morning of November 2, groups of deputiesdiscussed the outcomes of the implementation of socio-economic development and Statebudget plans in 2020, socio-economic development plans and budget estimates andallocations for 2021, and outcomes of the implementation of NA resolutions onsocio-economic development, economic, and financial restructuring and mid-termpublic investment.
Deputy Tran Anh Tuan from HCM City suggestedthe Government work out different growth scenarios instead of just one of the 6percent growth in 2021.
Deputy Tran Hoang Ngan, also from the southern city,and deputy Nguyen Anh Tri from Hanoi proposed the Government use 2020 reservesto provide more support for disaster-hit localities in the central region and helplocal people stabilise their lives shortly./.
