NA approves several laws on 19th working day of 5th session

Hanoi (VNA) – The 15th National Assembly continued the 19th working day of the fifth session in Hanoi on June 20 under the chairof NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue.

In the morning plenary session, presided over by NAVice Chairman Nguyen Duc Hai, lawmakers listened to Chairman of the NA's Economic Committee Vu Hong Thanh's report on explaining, acquiring contributed ideas, andrevising the draft Law on Cooperatives (amended). 

After that, the NA voted to pass the Law on Cooperatives(amended) with 466 voting yes, or 94.33% of the total number of NA deputies.

Chairman of the NA’s Committee for Science, Technology and Environment Le Quang Huy presented a report explaining, acquiring, and revisingthe draft Resolution on investment policy of a road project from NationalHighway 27C to provincial road DT.656 in Khanh Hoa province, which will connect withLam Dong and Ninh Thuan provinces. Later, the NA voted to approve theresolution with 471 voting in favour, equivalent to 95.34% of the total number of NA deputies.

Then, presided over by NA Vice Chairman Tran QuangPhuong, the lawmakers listened to Chairman of the NA's Committee for NationalDefence and Security Le Tan Toi's report explaining, acquiring opinions, and revising the draft Law on Civil Defence. Later, the NA deputiescast votes on the bill with 469 saying yes, accounting for 94.94% of the totalnumber of NA deputies.

Minister of Public Security To Lam, authorised by thePrime Minister, presented a report on the draft Law on forces participating inthe protection of security and order at the grassroots level. Chairman of the NA's Committee for National Defence andSecurity Le Tan Toi presented a report on the verification of the draft law. After that, the lawmakers discussed the bill in groups.

In the afternoon, presided over by NA Vice ChairmanNguyen Duc Hai, Chairman of the NA's Committee for Science, Technology, andEnvironment Le Quang Huy presented a report on explaining, acquiring opinions, and revising the draft Law on Consumer Protection(revised). After that, the NA voted to pass the draft law with 463 deputies sayingyes, or 93.72% of the total number of NA deputies.

The legislators also discussed the draft Law on WaterResources (revised). The majority of opinions agreed with the need to amend thelaw.

They discussed issues including those related to protecting and restoringwater resources; regulation, distribution and exploitation, and use of waterresources; economic tools, policies, and resources for water resources;responsibility for State management of water resources; general planning onexploitation and use of water resources.

At the end of the discussion session, Minister of NaturalResources and Environment Dang Quoc Khanh gave a speech explaining andclarifying several issues raised by NA deputies.

As planned, on June 21, the NA will hold a plenarysession to discuss the draft Land Law (amended). The session will be televised live on the National Assembly Television Channel./.
