Hanoi (VNA) – Myanmar and the United Nations Office on Drug and Crime (UNODC) are cooperating in fighting terrorism with the UN agency helping the Southeast Asian nation in improving its capacity to prevent acts of terrorism.
The agreement was reached during a three-day meeting, which was jointly held by the Myanmar Police Force and the UNODC in Nay Pyi Taw from July 6.
Both domestic and foreign experts discussed ways to address terrorist incidents, as well as exchanging views on the operations of terrorists in Asia. They also discussed information collection and cooperation between local organisations in the fight against terrorism.
The meeting also covered capacity building programmes to promote Myanmar’s cooperation in this fight both domestically and internationally.-VNA
