Yangon (VNA) – Myanmar’snew President U Win Myint has pledged to promote changes for the stronger developmentof the country, believing that the objective could be realised through thepursuit of united strength.
President U Win Myint made the remarks onApril 17, the first day of Myanmar's traditional New Year festival Thingyan.
He called on all-level administrations totransparently implement commitments under the basis of "Non-impact onstability to bring about changes".
The President demonstrated his determinationto promote development of the country through pursuing three prioritisedobjectives, including law enforcement and socio-economic development; nationalreconciliation; and amendment of the constitution for the establishment of ademocratic federal union, which he mentioned in hisinaugural speech at the Union Parliament.
He called for applying the government'sdevelopment policy, stressing the priority to foster socio-economic development,upgrade electricity network, and support small- and medium-sized enterprises inaccessing loans.
President U Win Myint also asked for effortsto back up the judiciary, and to boost corruption fighting, human rightsprotection and drug trafficking.
U Win Myint, former speakerof the House of Representatives, won the presidential election on March 28.
The presidential electionwas hosted by the Union Parliament to fill the presidency vacancy left by UHtin Kyaw, who previously announced resignation, citing health reason.-VNA
