Myanmar, Cambodia reach visa exemption deal

Myanmar and Cambodia have agreed on mutual visa exemption for ordinary passport holders to simplify the procedures of citizens’ travelling and strengthening existing friendly ties.

Theagreement was signed by Myanmar Deputy Foreign Minister U Tin OoLwin and Cambodian Ambassador to Myanmar Sieng Burvuthin.

Earlier, Myanmar Airways International (MAI) opened an air route betweenYangon city and the Cambodia ancient city of Siem Reap inFebruary 2011.

The service was extended to reach theCambodian capital city of Phnom Penh in November that year, helpingfoster the two countries’ links in tourism, culture, trade andinvestment.

In another development, Myanmar ’s House ofRepresentatives Speaker Thura U Shwe Mann will lead a delegation toCambodia from December 19-22 to beef up bilateral ties.-VNA

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi

Indonesia's state-owned oil company Pertamina, along with foreign partners Sinopec from China and Kuwait’s Kufpec, has signed a contract to explore the Melati oil and gas block, located off the coast of Sulawesi. The block is estimated to contain trillions of cubic feet of gas reserves.
