Hanoi (VNA) – Myanmar's new government has appointed 29 regional ministers for ethnic affairs for 13 regions and states, according to an order of the President's Office released on March 31.
The 29 ministers of ethnic affairs include those of Bamar, Shan, Lisu, Rawang, Mon, Pa-O, Chin, Kayin, Rakhine, Lahu, Akha, Intha, Kaya and Padaung groups.
In the new government’s structure, a new Union Ministry of Ethnic Affairs has been formed, headed by minister Naing Thet Lwin.
On the same day, the Myanmar lower house announced the appointment of Zaw Thein as Chairman of the International Relations Committee, replacing Daw Su Su Lwin of the National League for Democracy (NLD) and spouse of President Htin Kyaw.
Htin Kyaw was sworn in at a ceremony on March 30.-VNA
