Hanoi (VNA) - Eleven people were injured as aplane slid off a runway while landing at Yangon airport in Myanmar on May 8, accordingto local police.
Imageson Facebook showed a crumpled Biman Bangladesh Airlines plane lying on thegrass at the side of the runway.
A police officer at the airport said a pilot, an airhostess and nine passengerswere slightly injured, adding that the plane slid from the runway as it landedat 7:20 pm (Vietnam time).
The incident happened near Terminal 3, he said, adding that the nose and bothwings were damaged.
According to Myanmar Times, the BombardierDash-8/400 aircraft of Biman Bangladesh Airlines,which carried 30 passengers and 6 crew, skiddedand overran the runway on landing at Yangon International Airport in heavy rainand poor visibility.
Although the accident has not been confirmed, Yangon airport informedthat heavy rain made the airport temporarily stop operation. Flights to Yangon then had to divert toNaypyitaw.
According to thelatest information, passengers on the plane come from Bangladesh, Myanmar,Canada, China, India, France and Switzerland.-VNA
