Pretoria (VNA) – Minister of Agricultureand Food Security of Mozambique Higino Francisco de Marrule has highly valuedVietnam’s practical support for the African nation in various spheres over thepast years.
The minister made the appraisals at a ceremony marking the 74th anniversary ofVietnam’s August Revolution (August 19) and National Day (September 2) jointly heldby the Vietnamese Embassy and community in Mozambique on August 29.
He said Mozambique commits to continuously tightening the solidarity andfriendship with Vietnam.
The official called on Vietnam to further share its experience in economicdevelopment and international integration, and suggested the two countriesenhance cooperation in agriculture, telecommunications and other spheres oftheir strength and demands.
In his remarks, Vietnamese Ambassador Le Huy Hoang reviewed Vietnam’s 74-yeardevelopment, with marked achievements in economic development, ensuringnational defence and security, and expanding foreign relations.
He underlined Vietnam’s participation in the United Nations peacekeepingoperations in Africa, saying the country is preparing to assume the post ofnon-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2020-2021 and ASEAN Chairin 2020.
The ambassador also touched upon recent developments in the East Sea andaffirmed Vietnam’s efforts in cooperating with countries to settle disputes inthe waters by peaceful measures, on the basis of international law, especiallythe 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea.
Regarding the relationship with Mozambique, Hoang expressed his hope that thetwo countries will beef up their multi-faceted cooperation, particularly in theareas of telecommunications, agriculture, trade, investment, education, healthcare, mining and expert exchange.-VNA
