HCM City (VNA) – The Ho Chi Minh City Association of Garment Textile Embroidery and Knitting (Agtex) and the TUV SUD Vietnam company, on May 25, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on helping Vietnamese garment exporters enter the global market.

Under the MoU, Vietnamese businesses will receive assistance from the TUV SUD in product testing and management system certification.

Agtex Chairman Pham Xuan Hong said that the MoU will create favourable conditions for businesses operating in the field, especially in the context that international standards for product safety and quality vary widely.

Sathish Kumar Somuraj, General Director of TUV SUD Vietnam, said that Vietnam has signed a number of free trade agreements (FTAs) with major markets such as the US, the EU, Japan and the Republic of Korea.

Those FTAs not only bring opportunities for Vietnamese exporters but also require domestic manufacturers to meet standards in product quality and safety.

TUV SUD is an internationally recognised testing and certification body, with over 40 years of experience providing testing, management systems assessment and certification services.

Its branch in Vietnam was set up in September 2006.-VNA
