In 2018, domestic hospitals provided checkups,treatment, and first aid for about 300,000 foreigners. They were mainlyoverseas Vietnamese and people from the neighbouring countries of Laos and Cambodia,as well as foreigners living and working in Vietnam.
The most requested medical services includedentistry, cardiovascular interventions, cancer treatment, and cosmeticsurgery, among others.
The Ho Chi Minh City Oncology Hospital in2018 provided medical checkups for more than 660 foreigners and treatment forabout 1,220 inpatients.
Meanwhile, the Military Central Hospital108 also received a growing number of patients from Russia, the US, theRepublic of Korea (RoK), and China throughout the year.
Minister of Health Nguyen Thi Kim Tien saidthat many foreign patients opt for medical services in Vietnam thanks to the affordabletreatment and high quality of skilled doctors with a high success rate comparedto those in other countries.
In particular, the Vietnam-Germany Hospitalin Hanoi recently saved a Japanese tourist, aged 67, who suffered from type Aaortic dissection.
The Military Central Hospital 108 had also successfullyrescued a 40-year-old patient from the RoK with subarachnoid haemorrhage due toaortic aneurysm.
In addition, the National K (Cancer)Hospital performed a complex surgery to remove a large tumour for a Japaneseliving in Vietnam. –VNA
