Ministry aims to complete procedures to launch 19 transport projects in 2024

The Ministry of Transport said it will strive to complete procedures for 19 transport projects to start construction in 2024. Among the projects, three are directly under the authority of the ministry, namely the Dau Giay-Tan Phu Expressway, Cho Moi-Bac Kan Expressway and Lo T-Rach Soi Expressway.

Hanoi, (VNA) – The Ministry of Transport said it will strive to completeprocedures for 19 transport projects to start construction in 2024.

Amongthe projects, three are directly under the authority of the ministry, namelythe Dau Giay-Tan Phu Expressway, Cho Moi-Bac Kan Expressway and Lo T-Rach Soi Expressway.

Besides,the ministry is accelerating work on 23 other projects with the aim of puttingthem into operation during this year, including two component projects in the North-SouthExpressway East, Phase 1 – the Dien Chau-Bai Vot and Cam Lam-Vinh Hao expressways.

Atthe same time, the ministry is working hard towards completing necessary paperson investment policy for the North-South high-speed railway project to submitto authorised authorities for approval. It will also push ahead withpreparations for investment in major national railway routes such as Ho ChiMinh City-Can Tho, Bien Hoa-Vung Tau, Long Thanh-Thu Thiem and LaoCai-Hanoi-Hai Phong.

Alsothis year, the Transport Ministry is assisting localities in completingprocedures for 11 expressway projects.

Theministry is taking drastic and concerted solutions to promote the disbursementof public investment capital, help ministries, sectors and localadministrations remove obstacles in ground clearance, and supervise the workingpace of contractors and consultants in key projects of national and sectoralimportance.   

Towardsthe goal of completing and putting into use 3,000km of expressway along withseveral airports and some other key transport works by 2025, the ministry haspushed ahead with decentralising management to project management boards. Theminister will chair monthly online meetings with project management boards ofkey projects to timely handle any arising problems, and regularly conduct siteinspection.

In2023, the Transport Ministry started work on 26 transport projects andcompleted 20 others, including nine expressways with a total length of 475km,raising the total length of the national expressway network to 1,892km./.
