Hue said the Party and the State have always attached importance and prioritised resources to agriculture, farmers and rural areas, addingthat with its strong growth over the past years, the sector has served as apillar of the national economy, helping to ensure national food security, evenin the most difficult period due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Pointing out limitations in the sector like the prevalenceof small-scale production models and low productivity, he asked the sector tomake greater efforts and take more drastic actions in agricultural restructuring,rural economic development and new-style rural area building.
Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh and theministries of environmental and natural resources, and planning and investmentalso gave further explanations in this regard.
They shared the view that people should be taken asthe centre in the building of action programmes implementing the resolutionadopted at the fifth plenum of the 13th Party Central Committee onagriculture, farmers and rural areas by 2030 with a vision towards 2045, andother relevant conclusions and resolutions of the NA and the NA StandingCommittee.
Mentioning links between farmers and businesses, Huesaid by 2050, at least 10,000 products should win the three-star One CommuneOne Product (OCOP) status or higher.
The NA Chairman noted that breakthrough solutionsare needed to raise agricultural economic values, step up the construction of agriculturallogistics centres and roll out projects to boost exports to such major marketslike China, the US, the European Union (EU) and Japan./.
