Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba Corps General Álvaro López Miera is paying an official visit to Vietnam from June 20-25 at an invitation of Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang.

Hanoi (VNA) - Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Cuba CorpsGeneral Álvaro López Miera is paying an official visit to Vietnam from June20-25 at an invitation of Minister of National Defence General Phan Van Giang.

Right after the welcome ceremony for the Cuban guests on June 22, the two sides held talks during which Giang affirmed that the Party, State, people and People's Army of Vietnam will neverforget Cuba's support and assistance during the most difficult period of the strugglefor national liberation in the past as well as in the nation building cause atpresent.

"Vietnam will always stand shoulder to shoulder with and support Cuba onthe path of building and developing a beautiful and heroic country," he said.

Corps General Álvaro López Miera thanked Vietnam for alwaysassisting his country, and stressed the importance of the relations between thetwo countries in general and the two armies in particular.

He expressed his hope that the two sides will maintain andstrengthen cooperation, with focus on exchanging delegations at all levels andexperts. He affirmed that he will do his best to contribute to deepening thebilateral relations.

The two ministers agreed to focus collaboration in professionalexperience exchange, defence industry, human resources training, militarymedicine, Party and political affairs.

They then signed a cooperation plan for the 2023-2025 period./.
