Hanoi (VNA) – A delegation from MilitaryRegion 5 led by Commander Lieut. Gen Thai Dai Ngoc visited Military Region1 of the Royal Cambodian Military on December 4-5.

At a meeting with General Huot Chhieng, Commander of Military Region 1 of Cambodia, Ngoc thanked the Cambodian side forcoordinating with and creating favourable conditions for Vietnam’s MilitaryRegion 5 in searching and repatriating martyrs’ remains, and supporting theVietnamese community to settle down in the area.

He proposed that Military Region 1 give advice to thelocal administration on promptly raiding establishments using Vietnamese forcedlabourers who were tricked into illegally crossing the border to Cambodia.

The two sides shared pleasure at the close coordinationbetween the two military regions in exchanging information, givingconsultations for the speeding up of border demarcation and border marker planting as well as prevention and control of illegal border crossing and infiltrationactivities, and fighting criminals and social evils.

On the occasion, the Vietnamese side handed over 18,000USD provided by the Vietnamese Government to the Cambodian side to support it in in the search for and repatriation of the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia./.
