Nghe An (VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has requested that MilitaryRegion 4 repress its anguish and continue coordinating with relevant units incentral Thua Thien-Hue province in searching for workers still missing after alandslide near the construction site of the Rao Trang 3 hydropower plant.
Seven officers of Military Region 4, includingits Deputy Commander Major General Nguyen Van Man, were among 13 people buriedby another landslide at Ranger Station 67 while on their way to the hydropowerplant to rescue the missing workers.
The bodies of all 13 members of the 21-strongrescue team had been found as of 7.30pm on October 15.
Visiting Military Region 4 in central Nghe Anprovince on October 16, PM Phuc said he was touched by the responsibility andstrong will of the officers and soldiers of the Defence Ministry and MilitaryRegion 4, and the sacrifice they made is a great loss for the ministry as wellas Military Region 4.
He asked the ministry and Military Region 4 toorganise a solemn funeral for them and extend his condolences to theirfamilies.
Military Region 4 was requested to ensuresecurity and safety for local people and avoid unexpected incidents in thecontext of more storms being forecast to hit the central region.
The Government leader also announced assistanceof 10 million VND (430 USD) to each family of the deceased.
The 21-strong rescue team was set up on October12. They stopped at Ranger Station 67 to rest for the night. A rocky landslide suddenlyhit the station at midnight, and only eight of the team successfully managed toescape.
Of the 17 workers reported buried by a landslidenear the construction site of the Rao Trang 3 hydropower plant, two have beenfound dead. The other 15 are still listed as missing./.
