Microsoft enters Myanmar market

Microsoft, a US software giant, has officially announced its joining of the Myanmar market by partnering with Myanmar Information Technology Pte Ltd., state media reported on June 9.
Microsoft, a US software giant, has officially announced its joining ofthe Myanmar market by partnering with Myanmar Information Technology PteLtd., state media reported on June 9.

The Americanmulti-national software corporation made the announcement at theWorld Economic Forum on East Asia hosted by Myanmar on June 5- 7.

The world's largest software maker expressed hopesthat its business would help improve the economic performance ofMyanmar, affirming that technology will play a vital part in futuregrowth of this Southeast Asian country.

Recently,the Myanmar government has opened bidding for two nationwidetelecommunication service packages. In addition, it has also offeredpreferential policies for domestic and international investors in thisfield.

In the 2015-2016 period, Myanmar plans toincrease telecommunication coverage to 75- 80 percent to help peoplehave greater access to telecommunication services at affordable prices.-VNA

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi

Indonesia's state-owned oil company Pertamina, along with foreign partners Sinopec from China and Kuwait’s Kufpec, has signed a contract to explore the Melati oil and gas block, located off the coast of Sulawesi. The block is estimated to contain trillions of cubic feet of gas reserves.
