Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - SuratThani and Koh Samui have been featured in the upcoming seventh edition of theMichelin Guide Thailand 2024, set to be published at the end of this year.
According to International Director of Michelin Guide GwendalPoullennec, Surat Thani and Koh Samui have many beautiful natural wonders,cultural heritage, and culinary experiences that would appeal to tourists. Theblend of local and international cuisine, beautiful ambiance, and friendlyhospitality of the locals, have impressed Michelin Guide inspectors.
Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Yuthasak Supasorn stated that the launchof Michelin Guide Thailand has contributed significantly to the TAT’s missionto attract foreign tourists. He emphasised that food is one of Thailand’s"5F" soft powers, including film, festivals, fashion, and fighting(Muay Thai).
Surat Thani Vice Governor Chusak Rooying also highlighted that the province isalso famous for producing rambutan, coconut juice, turmeric, and blue swimmingcrabs. He also mentioned that there are many tourist attractions on both themainland and the islands, such as Ratchaprapa Dam, Khao Sok National Park, WatPhra Borommathat Chaiya, and Phum Riang Village.
Michelin Guide’s coverage expanded from Bangkok in 2018 to include otherprovinces such as Nakhon Ratchasima, Ubon Ratchathani, Udon Thani, and KhonKaen in the 2023 edition. The inclusion of Surat Thani and Koh Samui in theupcoming edition is expected to further allow food enthusiasts and visitors toexplore the diversity and richness of Thai cuisine./.
