Hanoi (VNA) – Authorities on June 13 discovered methamphetamine drugs hidden in a parcel transported from the Netherlands to Vietnam.
Officers of the Hanoi Customs Department, the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department under the General Department of Vietnam Customs, Hanoi Police and relevant agencies checked the parcel after finding suspicion.
Two boxes were placed inside the parcel sent from the Netherlands to Hanoi via express mail service (EMS), which contained 515 pills, weighing 222 grams.
The pills were identified as ecstasy, scientifically known as Methylene Dioxyn-Methamphet Amine. The exhibits were then sent to the Criminal Science Institute of the Ministry of Public Security for verification.
The case is being further investigated by authorised agencies.
On April 20, the agencies also seized about 9.35 kilogrammes of methamphetamine drugs when checking a parcel from Belgium to Vietnam via EMS. It was the largest amount of drugs smuggling into Hanoi by this service.-VNA
