Meeting marks Lao National Day in Thai Nguyen

Vietnamese and Laos officials and delegates from the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association gathered at a meeting in the northern province of Thai Nguyen on November 23 to celebrate the 41st National Day of Laos (December 2).

Thai Nguyen (VNA) – Vietnameseand Laos officials and delegates from the Laos-Vietnam Friendship Association gatheredat a meeting in the northern province of Thai Nguyen on November 23 to celebratethe 41st National Day of Laos (December 2).

During the event, hosted by theVietnam-Laos Friendship Association, the participants recalled the history of theLao people’s struggle for national independence and the foundation anddevelopment of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party as well as Vietnam-Laosspecial traditional ties.

Bui Xuan Hoa, Standing Deputy Secretaryof the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Committee of Thai Nguyenprovince, conveyed the best wishes to the Lao people.

Hoa held that amidst theinternational integration and globalisation trend, people-to-people exchangesshould be increased through activities of friendship associations, liaisoncommittee of former volunteer soldiers as well as via training, research andtechnology transfer between the two countries.

Thai Nguyen twinned with LuangPhrabang provinceof Laos for a long time.Since the 1960s, the province has received Laosstudents to study in local universities and high schools, many of whom are now holdingimportant positions in the Laos’Party and Government.

Currently, Thai Nguyen is hostingmore than 1,600 Lao students who have received support from provincialdepartments and agencies.

On this occasion, the Laodelegation incensed in tribute to President Ho Chi Minh at the Ho Chi Minh MemorialHouse and visited a number of education and training facilities which have beenaccommodating Lao students./.
