The large number of overseasVietnamese intellectuals who are trained in developed countries is agreat treasure that can help the country shorten its industrialisationprocess and integration into the market economy, said President of theHCM City Chapter of the Association for Liaison with Overseas VietnameseLuong Bach Van.
Deputy Head of the HCM CityInstitute of Physics Duong Minh Tri, an overseas Vietnamese intellectualwho has made contributions to the country over the past 25 years, saidyoung overseas Vietnamese should gather valuable experiences andmaintain good contacts in their host countries before returning toVietnam as they will be useful for their activities in the homeland.
Participants also pointed to hindrances thatprevent foreign intellectuals from taking part in the homeland’sdevelopment.
Professor Vu Duc Vuong, an OV fromthe US said administrative procedures should be further simplifiedand more efforts taken to boost trust and connection with OVs./.
