A medical training course on treating dengue fever was organised in southern Binh Duong province from September 23-24.
Participants came from Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Tay Ninh which are considered dengue fever hot spots.
While updating participants on the latest knowledge on treating adult cases, trainees discussed fatality causes and treatment difficulties. They also shared experience in diagnosing and caring for children suffering from the disease.
After finishing the course, they will become trainers themselves at different medical units in their localities.
Vietnam annually records between 50,000 and 100,000 cases of dengue fever, 80 percent of which concentrate in the south due to the region’s humidity, a favourable condition for mosquitoes to thrive.
Since the beginning of 2015, there have been 36,097 infections, including 23 deaths, up from 19,499 instances and 20 fatalities a year ago.-VNA
