Moscow (VNA) – Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Ngo Duc Manh had aworking session in Moscow on March 20 with First Deputy Chairman of the RussianState Duma Ivan Melnikov to discuss issues related to the overseas Vietnamesecommunity.
This was the first time Vietnamesecitizen-related affairs had been put on table for discussion between anambassador and a leader of Russia’s legislative body.
Along with Ambassador Manh, theVietnamese delegation included leading officials of the Overseas VietnameseAssociation in Russia, its chapter in Krasnodar province, the VietnameseBusiness Association in Russia and the Hanoi-Moscow Trade Centre.
At the meeting, Manh thanked Russia’sauthorities for supporting the overseas Vietnamese community.
However, many people still facedifficulties during the integration process, particularly in soft skills, lackof knowledge about migration and settlement procedures and impact of the hostcountry’s socio-economic situation.
The diplomat divided the difficultiesinto six groups of migration, learning, tourism, production and business,labour and residence, and detailed them in writing to leaders of the StateDuma, ministries and sectors involved to seek solutions to these difficulties.
Melnikov appreciated the Vietnameseside’s proposals, saying he will direct the State Duma’s relevant committees towork with Russia’s offices and the Vietnamese embassy to seek solutions.
There are currently about 50,000Vietnamese people living and working in Russia.-VNA
