Malaysia’s SMEs to be mentored in digital transformation

Sixteen Malaysian small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have been selected to participate in Singapore-based The FinLab’s JOM Transform Programme, subsidised by United Overseas Bank Malaysia (UOB Malaysia).

Kuala Lumpur(VNA) – Sixteen Malaysian small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) have beenselected to participate in Singapore-based The FinLab’s JOM Transform Programme,subsidised by United Overseas Bank Malaysia (UOB Malaysia).

The selected businesses,involved in a wide range of sectors from food manufacturing to automotive,started taking part in the programme’s activities on September 24.

During the three-month JOMTransform Programme, the owners and key decision makers of the 16 SMEs will beprovided with neccessary skills and know-how in specific areas of digitaltransformation, such as digital marketing. They will also be matched withtechnology partners to pilot and assess the effectiveness of their digitalsolutions.

Upon completing the programme, the businesses willshare their outcomes and learnings with the public at a “Showcase Day”.

Theprogramme aims to help Malaysian businesses better harness technology to drivebusiness growth and to prepare for the future, said UOB Malaysia’s chiefexecutive officer Wong Kim Choong. It is part of the bank’s commitment to helpthe businesses overcome their business transformation challenges for betterproductivity and sustainable growth, he added.

FinLab,Singapore’s first corporate FinTech accelerator, is a joint venture betweenChina-based UOB and SG Innovate (SGI). It started operating in Singapore and Thailand in 2018.

The FinLaband UOB Malaysia on September 14 launched the JOM Transform Programme for SMEsin Malaysia, which isconducted in partnership with five organisations from both the public andprivate sectors, namely Chinese Chamber of Commerce &Industry of Kuala Lumpur & Selangor (KLSCCCI), Malaysian Association ofTour and Travel Agents (MATTA), Maxis Bhd, Malaysia Digital Economy Corp (MDEC)and SME Corp Malaysia. Theseorganisations will provide mentorship and co-organise events./.

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi
