Illustrative image (Source: abc.net.au)Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysian Minister ofTransport Anthony Loke on March 3 announced that the country will consider resuming the search for the missingplane of Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 if companies interested in the huntcome forward with viable proposals or credible leads.
Speaking to the media at thefifth annual remembrance event for MH370, the minister said that Malaysia will onlypay for searching companies if they can define the position of the aircraft,which vanished on its way from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014 with239 people aboard.
Previously, Malaysia hadoffered Ocean Infinity 70 million USD under a “no cure, no fee” deal, but thefirm failed to find the airplane after a three-month campaign which ended inMarch 2018.
Loke stressed that if there is a proposal and credible lead, Malaysia is willing to work with them.
Meanwhile, Ocean Infinity had expressed interest in another search, citing newtechnology developed in the past year.
More than 30 pieces ofdebris, believed to be part of the plane, have washed up along the Indian Oceancoastline, but only three were confirmed to be from the aircraft.-VNA
