Malaysia’s Prime Minister Najib Razak has announced that his country would open door to 3,000 Syrian refugees in the next three years.

Speaking at the 70th meeting of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on October 1, PM Najib Razak said Islamic countries have some responsibility to Syrian refugees, who have been putting growing social and economic pressure on European countries.

Over the past four years, around 4 million Syrians have fled their country to neighbouring nations and they have been struggling against difficulties and poverty.

Malaysia is one of a few Islamic countries which lead aid efforts for Syrian refugees.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the refugees will be provided with temporary accommodation and access to education and employment.-VNA
