Hanoi (VNA) –Delegations to the 29thSEA Games are not allowed to cook and prepare their own meals, announced theMalaysian SEA Games Organising Committee (MASOC).
The MASOC stated that all athletes have toshare a common menu, with food approved by the National Sport Institute. It wasto ensure health issues for athletes and officials during the biggest regional sportevent.
Speaking with reporters, MASOC chief executiveofficer Datuk Seri Zolkples Emborg said contingents who want to bringadditional food should seek permission from the Malaysian Ministry of Health,which manages the health aspects of the SEA Games.
He also affirmed that each delegation would behoused in a five-star hotel with most favourable conditions, instead of stayingin the athletes’ village.
As many as 4,888 athletes from 11 SoutheastAsian nations will compete at the 29th SEA Games from August 19 to 30, withMalaysia having the largest contingent with 876 athletes.-VNA
