Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – TheAppeal Court of Putrajaya city in Malaysia has sentenced to death nine Philippinemilitants involved in the incursion into Sabah state’s Lahad Datu district in2013.
The Philippine militants, aged between42-77, were accused of waging war against the Malaysian King, after taking partin the armed incursion into Tanduo village in Lahad Datu district from February12 to April 10, 2013. Nine members of the Malaysian security force were killedin the assault.
The incident was a serious casewhich could spark a war between the two countries while affecting nationalsovereignty and the lives of Malaysians, said deputy public prosecutor AwangArmadajaya Awang Mahmud.
Last year, the militants weresentenced to life imprisonment by the Appeal Court of Sabah for the similaraccusation.-VNA
