Malaysia sees rise in natural rubber exports

Malaysia’s rubber export jumped 32.3 percent year-on-year in September to 79,808 tonnes, according to the country’s Department of Statistics.

China tops the country’s rubber importers with 41.2percent, followed by Germany (14.4 percent), Iran (11.1percent), Brazil (4.1 percent), the US (3.9 percent), theRepublic of Korea (3.3 percent), Finland (2.3 percent) andPortugal (1.8 percent).

Meanwhile, Malaysia also imported87,288 tonnes of rubber in the same month, up 9.1 percent compared tothe corresponding period last year, with 80.2 percent of the importscoming from Thailand and Vietnam.

Also according to thestatistics department, the country’s natural rubber output in Septemberdropped 1.3 percent year on year to 71,921 tonnes.-VNA

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi

Indonesia's state-owned oil company Pertamina, along with foreign partners Sinopec from China and Kuwait’s Kufpec, has signed a contract to explore the Melati oil and gas block, located off the coast of Sulawesi. The block is estimated to contain trillions of cubic feet of gas reserves.
