Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin hasaffirmed that his Government will not impose a total lockdown despite thelatest surge in COVID-19 cases.
If the Government was to reintroduce a national lockdown, itwould have a huge impact that could affect the social and economic system ofthe country, he said in his special televised address on October 6.
Instead, the Government will implement targeted enhancedmovement control orders at identified areas with high numbers of cases.
On the day, Malaysia reported 691 new infections – thehighest number recorded in a single day. Of the total, 688 cases weretransmitted in the community, mainly in Kedah and Sabah states./.
