KualaLumpur (VNA) – Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines have agreedto establish a trilateral cooperation tofight activities and ideas of the self-claimed Islamic State (IS) in theregion, said Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi on January 26.
Zahid stressed that the cooperation was approved by leaders of three countries,including Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak, Indonesian President JokoWidodo and Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.
Under the agreement, the three nations will work together to discover terroristmilitants and bring an end to IS’ influence in the region.
Thecooperation was first reached by Duterte and Widodo, followed by Malaysia afterthe meeting between Duterte and Najib during the Philippine President’sofficial visit to Malaysia last year, said Hazid.-VNA
