Malaysian rescuers retrieved 35 more bodies on September 6, bringing the death toll in the boat accident to 50, according to the country’s authorities.
The bodies were found about 8 nautical miles (15 kilometres) from the accident’s scene.
The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) said search efforts will continue for the next three days.
The boat capsized on September 3 off Malaysia's coast, about 16 kilometres from the Selangor state. Most of the passengers were believed to be Indonesian migrants.
According to reports from those rescued, the capsized boat was carrying up to 80 people when the tragedy occurred, though its intended capacity was only 10 to 15 passengers.
Malaysian authorities said it remains unknown whether the migrants were attempting to land in Malaysia or leave it illegally.-VNA
