Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – The Malaysian Immigration Department announcedthat it busted a ring making fake passports and immigration permits forforeigners who illegally reside in the country.
The immigration authority found several stickers and fake cards, includingEnforcement Cards (E-kad), identification cards for international students,passports, Visit Pass Temporary Employment and Construction IndustryDevelopment Board of Malaysia cards.
The process to make a fake E-kad could only take about five minutes, MustafarAli, Director General of the Immigration Department, said at a press conferenceon August 14.
On August 13, immigration staff nabbed two Bangladeshi nationals in Ampangtown, Kuala Lumpur for involving in the ring, especially those from Bangladesh.The master forger pocketed millions of ringgit from selling fake cards.
The syndicate earned 50,000-70,000 ringgit (13,000-15,000 USD) per month in thepast year. They offered international employers fake documents for between1,000-4,000 ringgit (240-1,000 USD).-VNA
