Malaysia arrests nearly 48,000 illegal foreign workers in 2016

Malaysian authorities have arrested nearly 48,000 undocumented foreign workers in 2016, according to a statement by the Malaysian parliament.

Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysian authorities have arrested nearly 48,000undocumented foreign workers in 2016, according to a statement by the Malaysianparliament.

The labourers were seized during hunting campaigns by theImmigration Department, Royal Police and National Registration Department ofMalaysia from January 1 to December 6, reported Malaysian Deputy Minister ofHome Affairs Masir Kujat at the parliament.

He said that local authorised agencies conducted 10,184hunting campaigns and inspected 164,416 people. A total 1,105 employers werearrested and 24 intermediary agencies were also handled during the year, headded.-VNA

Indonesia begins major oil, gas exploration in Sulawesi
