Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysian police has said that they arrested a 62-year-old man on June12 for suspected involvement in 2018 World Cup football betting.
Police also collected several betting slips and a mobile phone in the man’sprivate house in Sibu, Sarawak state.
The man will be investigated under the Betting Act 1953 and the Common GamingHouses Act 1953.
Local police have launched anti-football gambling operations since June 10.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup will begin in Russia on June 14.-VNA
