Kuala Lumpur (VNA) – Malaysia targets to attract 33.1 million foreign visitors in 2018,said the country’s Ministry of Tourism and Culture on December 27.
The Star newspaperquoted Rashidi Hasbullah, an official of the Ministry, as saying that Malaysia welcomedabout 17.34 million visitors in January-August 2017. The country earned 31.8billion MYR (7.8 billion USD) in tourism revenue in the first half of the year,a rise of 1.8 percent year-on-year.
In 2017, Malaysia set thegoal to receive 31.8 million tourists, raking in 118 billion MYR (28.99 billionUSD).
Tourism, recognised asone of the 12 key economic areas of Malaysia, is the third biggest contributorto the country’s gross national income.-VNA
