Long An (VNA) - The Mekong Deltaprovince of Long An is working to carry out solar energy projects on low-yieldfarming land in districts as it boasts huge potential for solar powerdevelopment.
According to the provincial Department of Industryand Trade, most of the operational projects report positive business operationsand have created stable jobs for local people.
On average, one 50 MWp project generates 72 millionkWh of electricity each year and contributes about 18 billion VND (775,000 USD)to the provincial budget.
Local authorities advocate the strong development ofsolar power plants around the province, Deputy Director of the Department of Industryand Trade Duong Van Hoang Hoanh affirmed, adding that numerous investors haveregistered to build such projects on land with potential.
Long An province is currently home to 23 solar powerprojects with a combined capacity of 1,713 MWp.
Eight projects totalling 440 MWp are operational andconnected to the national grid, while one is set to be completed and generateelectricity from later this year.
