Localities asked to report public investment disbursement progress

The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) has asked centrally-run cities and provinces to promptly submit their reports on the implementation and disbursement of public investment in 2018.

Hanoi (VNA) –The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) has asked centrally-run citiesand provinces to promptly submit their reports on the implementation and disbursementof public investment in 2018.

The ministry requestedthe People’s Committees of the localities to report on the pace ofimplementation of public investment plans in quarter 1 and April this year aswell as the direction and solutions they have taken to carry out the work inthe first and second quarters of this year and each month.

The localities are urgedto report the progress of disbursement of capital for projects included inpublic investment plan of the year as of the end of April 2018, the estimatefor the present to the end of June and the whole year.

The MPI asked thelocalities to specify their difficulties and obstacles in implementing andallocating public investment as well as reasons behind them, as well as proposesolutions to speed up the disbursement of the capital in the rest of the year.

According the MPI, inthe first four months of the year, 70.9 trillion VND (3.11 billion USD) of capitalfrom the State budget was disbursed, equivalent to 21 percent of the yearlytarget and representing a rise of 9.3 percent year on year.

Of the total, thecentrally-managed capital was 13.1 trillion VND (576.4 million USD), accountingfor 19.9 percent of the yearly target, a fall of 2.3 percent over the sameperiod last year. Meanwhile, the capital managed by localities was 57.8trillion VND (2.54 billion USD), equivalent to 21.2 percent of the target forthe whole year and up 12.3 percent year on year.-VNA
