NewDelhi (VNA) – Leadersof the Communist Party of India (CPI) and the CPI – Marxist (CPI-M) hosted areception on September 1 for a Vietnamese delegation who have been in New Delhito attend the 9th Vietnam-India People’s Friendship Festival.

During the meeting, CPI General Secretary SuravaramSudhakar Reddy and CPI-M General Secretary Sitaram Yechury briefed the guestson the development of the two parties and India as a whole.

They expressed their hopes that the two nationswill make more efforts to promote cooperative relations, particularly after Vietnamand India upgraded the bilateral relationship to the level of comprehensivestrategic partnership.

The Indian party leaders also expected that underthe sound leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), Vietnam wouldreap greater socio-economic achievements in the future.

Vice President of the Vietnam Union of FriendshipOrganisations (VUFO) Bui Khac Son, who is head of the Vietnamese delegation, highlightedthe traditional friendship, solidarity and cooperation between the CPV and theCPI as well as the CPI-M, which have continuously nurtured over generations.

The Party, State and people of Vietnam alwayskeep in mind the precious support the communist parties and people of Indiahave provided for Vietnam during the past struggle for national liberation and thecurrent cause of national construction and development, Son said.

Son took this occasion to call on the CPI andCPI-M to continue backing the Vietnam-India multifaceted cooperation and comprehensivestrategic partnership.

He also expressed his hope that more people’sdelegations and businesspeople from India will visit Vietnam in the comingtime.

Previously, Vietnamese entrepreneurs joining thedelegation held a meeting with representatives of Indian firms, where they discussedcooperation opportunities, particularly in trade, tourism, and training.

The visit is made at a time when Vietnam is celebratingthe 72nd anniversary of National Day (September 2) and the two nations are markingthe 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties, the 10th founding anniversary of theStrategic Partnership and one year of establishing the Comprehensive StrategicPartnership.-VNA
