Hanoi (VNA)– President Tran Dai Quang and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on August 18 senttheir messages of condolences to Spanish King Felipe VI and Prime Minister MarianoRajoy, respectively, over the terror attack in Barcelona on August 17 thatkilled and injured dozens of people.
The same day, DeputyPrime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Binh Minh also extended his sympathyto Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Alfonso Dartis.
The attack happened ata busy street in Barcelona, killing 14 people and injuring about 100 others.
Also on August 18,Foreign Ministry’s spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang expressed deepest sympathy tothe State, Government and people of Spain and families of the victims.
“Vietnam stronglycondemns the act of terrorism in any form,” Hang said, stressing that such actsmust be strictly punished in conformity with the law.
She revealed that theVietnamese Embassy in Spain reported that there has been no report on any Vietnamesevictims in the attack, adding that the embassy is keeping a close watch on thedevelopment of the case in order to timely roll out necessary measures in case thereare Vietnamese citizens among the victims.
