Lawmaker’s housing case under further investigation

Police are expanding investigation into the case of Chau Thi Thu Nga, a National Assembly deputy from Hanoi , who was recently detained for her alleged fraud over a housing project.
Police are expanding investigation into the case of Chau Thi Thu Nga,a National Assembly deputy from Hanoi , who was recently detainedfor her alleged fraud over a housing project.

Nga,who is Chairwoman of the Land and Housing Construction and InvestmentJSC (Housing Group), collected over 377 billion VND (17.6 million USD)from investors for a housing project, which had yet been approved by theHanoi municipal People’s Committee and had yet been grantedconstruction licenses.

Nga had not been able to return the money to the buyers.

Following the case, the investigation police under the Ministry ofPublic Security on January 7 launched criminal proceedings against Ngaon a charge of “swindling to appropriate assets”, in accordance withArticle 139 of the Criminal Code.

On theevening the same day, the police detained Nga, and conducted a raid ofher house in Bach Mai precinct, Hai Ba Trung district.

Further investigation is underway.VNA

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.
