Lawmakers discuss crime combat on November 6

Legislators debated the fight against crimes and law violations, judgment execution and anti-corruption at the fourth sitting of the 14th National Assembly (NA) on November 6.

 Hanoi (VNA) – Legislators debated the fightagainst crimes and law violations, judgment execution and anti-corruption atthe fourth sitting of the 14th National Assembly (NA) on November 6.

They heard reports presented by the Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Courtand the Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy, along with theGovernment’s reports on the issues.

The deputies traced the root causes of the increasing cases of drug, economic, corruption,high-tech and organised crimes, deforestation, disorder and insecurity inhospitals, child sexual abuse, murders and violations of food safetyregulations in 2017, while setting forth solutions to combat crimes in 2018.

Apart from pointing to achievements and shortcomings of the court and procuracysectors, they looked into the fight against corruption, suggesting theGovernment rightly evaluate the role of the public in the combat.

The lawmakers underlined the need to make it clear corruption inlaw-protection, investigation and other concerned agencies.

They are scheduled to continue to scrutinise the reports of the Chief Judge,the Prosecutor and the Government on November 7 morning.

In the afternoon, they will mull over the settlement of complaints and denunciationsin 2017.

The working session will be broadcast live by the national television and radiochannels and widely covered by the media.-VNA
