Hanoi (VNA) – Lawmakers are scheduled to deliberate amendments to the law on judicial assessments during the ongoing eighth sitting of the 14thNational Assembly in Hanoi on the morning of November 25.
They willdiscuss proposed revisions to 22 existing articles and look into threenew articles which cover various aspects of judicial assessments. Theseinclude the legal basis of assessmentrequests, how to request judicial assessments and assign tasks to carry out assessments in cases concerning multiple agencies or sectors, the responsibilities of peopleinvolved in the sector, the authority to request and perform judicial assessments and how longthey should take, and penalties for violations.
At a groupdiscussion earlier, legislators agreed with the government’s proposal on thenecessity of amending the 2012 law to improve the effectiveness of judicial assessments in line with the Politburo’s ResolutionNo.49-NQ/TW on the Judicial Reform Strategy to 2020.
Thelegislators also plan to look into the list of candidates nominated as newmembers of the NA’s Standing Committee.
In theafternoon, they will vote on amendments to the Law on Management and Use ofWeapons, Explosives and Supporting Tools, the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit andResidence of Foreigners in Vietnam, the Law on Cadres and Civil Servants andthe Law on Public Employees.
They willlater elect new members of the NA’s Standing Committee and the Chairperson of the NA’s Committee for Legal Affairs./.
