Hanoi (VNA) – Legislators debated amendments and supplements tothe Laws on HIV/AIS Prevention and Control and on Vietnamese Workers WorkingAbroad under Contracts on the fourth day of the 14th NationalAssembly (NA)’s 10th sitting held virtually on October 23.

The discussions were moderated by NA Vice Chairman UongChu Luu. Acting Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long presented the proposal for and head of the NA’sCommittee for Social Affairs Nguyen Thuy Anh delivered a verification report on the draft revised Law on HIV/AIS Prevention and Control.

In the morning, the lawmakers made comments on a wide rangeof contents of the revised Law on HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control, notablyrights and responsibilities of HIV carriers, people eligible to access HIV/AIDS-relatedinformation and those allowed to access anti-retroviral drugs, support to theprovision of treatment and care for HIV carriers and resources for HIV/AIDSresponse.

In the afternoon, NA deputies focused discussions on thebill on Vietnamese workers working abroad under contracts. They voiced opinionson a number of issues, such as organizations eligible to send Vietnameseworkers abroad under working contracts, a fund for supporting overseasemployment, and rights and responsibilities of the guest workers and providersof guest worker services.

Luu asked the NA Committee for SocialAffairs and relevant ministries and agencies to continue receiving opinions tofinalise the bills for the NA’s consideration and approval by the end of the 10th sitting./.
