The draft law on special administrative-economicunits is part of the law and ordinance making programme of the NationalAssembly (NA) in 2018.
Vietnam plans to build the three special administrative-economic zones of VanDon in northern Quang Ninh province, Bac Van Phong in central Khanh Hoaprovince, and Phu Quoc in southern Kien Giang province.
On June 11, the NA agreed to postpone theconsideration and adoption of the bill until the sixth session of theparliament later this year, instead of in the ongoing fifth session.
According to NA Vice Chairman Uong Chu Luu, thebuilding of the draft law is a major policy of the Party and State. However, this is a new, complicated and controversial issue, so the NA StandingCommittee had agreed with the Government to ask the legislature for permissionto delay the approval of the bill in order to have more time for considerationand completion. -VNA
